Our Neighbourhood Plan has been approved at Referendum by a landslide in October 2019. Wootton Parish Council would like to thank everyone that voted in the referendum and every person on the Steering Group that contributed to the Joint Neighbourhood Plan.

On 24 October residents voted for the adoption of the Parish Council Neighbourhood Plan. The official results were:

  • Votes in favour of adopting the neighbourhood plan (YES vote): 544 (89.5%)
  • Votes against adopting the neighbourhood plan (NO vote): 64 (10.5%)
  • Turnout: 17.1%

Section 3 of the Neighbourhood Planning Act 2017 (as amended) gives neighbourhood plans full legal effect once they have passed their local referendum.

What is a Neighbourhood Plan?

A Neighbourhood Plan is, under the Localism Act, part of the statutory planning process. It aims to allow communities to have a significant role in shaping the development of growth in their local area.
